Check of dustproof covers and side play of tips of cross steering drafts

It is necessary to check regularly a condition of dustproof cuffs (shooter) of tips of cross steering drafts. The cracked cuff passes moisture and dirt in the hinge of cross steering draft, why that breaks. Tips of cross steering drafts with the torn cuffs need to be replaced completely, it is impossible to get separately cuffs as the spare part.

The hinged tips of steering drafts located on the external ends consist of the steel spherical heads enclosed in a plastic cup with addition of a small amount of greasing, and in itself they do not demand servicing. Protection them from dust and moisture is provided by rubber dustproof covers which state needs to be controlled more often:

Tips of cross steering drafts which covers cracked, always should consider defective – to be replaced.
Whether there is for hinges a side play, you can define, having raised the car and shaking a wheel in one and other party round its vertical axis or shaking cross steering draft.
Other opportunity: ask the assistant to turn a wheel, and try a hand on the hinge, whether there is a side play (the car costs on the earth).
If the side play is established, it is necessary to replace a tip of cross steering draft immediately!
Existence of a side play in rubber-metal hinges of cross steering draft in a junction with the steering mechanism is in the same way checked. If one of bearings is defective, it is necessary to replace all steering draft, unfortunately.
