Repair of a back suspension bracket

Removal of a back depreciation rack

Front-wheel models

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To raise the car from both parties.
  2. To provide fixing of the car.
  3. To remove a wheel.
  4. To bring a support under an axis from that party with which the depreciation rack will be removed, and thus to raise an axis approximately on 10 mm.
  5. To weaken the lower fixing bolt on a depreciation rack.
  6. To weaken four top fixing bolts on a depreciation rack. Thus to hold a rack.
  7. To remove a depreciation rack.
  8. At installation at first to tighten the top bolts of a depreciation rack (55 N • м).
  9. Freely to put the lower fastening of a depreciation rack, thus to replace samokontryashchuyusya a nut.
  10. To lower the car on the earth all four wheels.
  11. Only now to tighten the lower fixing bolt of a depreciation rack the moment of 240 N • m. Otherwise rubber-metal plugs can warp.

Removal of a back depreciation rack

  1. To raise the car.
  2. To provide fixing of the raised car.
  3. To remove a wheel.
  4. To bring a support under the cross lever of a suspension bracket from that party with which the depreciation rack will be removed.
  5. To unscrew the lower fixing bolt on a depreciation rack.
  6. To weaken four top fixing bolts on a depreciation rack. Thus to hold a rack in order that all suspension bracket of the back bridge did not hit a wing from within.
  7. To weaken and remove a fixing bolt of the cross lever of a suspension bracket at the top of a depreciation rack.
  8. To remove a depreciation rack.
  9. At installation freely to put the lower fastening of a depreciation rack, thus to replace samokontryashchuyusya a nut and bolts.
  10. To tighten the top bolts of a depreciation rack (55 N • м).
  11. Freely to screw a fixing bolt of the top cross lever of a suspension bracket, here too to replace bolts and samokontryashchiyesya nuts.
  12. To lower the car on the earth all four wheels. If to tighten bolts of a suspension bracket of wheels on the raised car, rubber-metal plugs will warp.
  13. Only now to tighten the lower fixing nut of a depreciation rack the moment of 90 N • m and in summary to turn on 1/2 turns (90 °).
  14. To tighten a nut of a fixing bolt of the top cross lever of a suspension bracket the moment of 70 N • m and in summary to turn on 1/2 turns (180 °).

Removal of back shock-absorbers

Front-wheel models

Before replacement of shock-absorbers it is necessary to establish, what running gear is established on your car. Only in this case you will be able to order the necessary shock-absorbers. It can be learned on the carrier of parameters of the car – the plate pasted in a niche of a spare wheel under a rug. Marking means:

  • 1BA – serial execution
  • 1BE – sports option
  • 1BB – execution for bad roads

  1. To remove a depreciation rack.
  2. To establish a natyazhitel of springs on rounds of springs and to squeeze a little a spring.
  3. In order that natyazhitel of springs did not come off, it is necessary to paste over the corresponding rounds of springs with a kleyushchy tape.
  4. To remove the top rubber support of a depreciation rack.
  5. To weaken top samokontryashchuyusya a nut on a shock-absorber rod. Thus to hold it with a key with an internal hexagon.
  6. To hold the shock-absorber and to remove it after removal of a nut.
  7. To remove springs and other details from the shock-absorber.
  8. At assembly to pay attention:
  • The lower end of a spring at the correct installation is directed on the left side of the car back, and on right forward.
  • Color marking on a spring specifies the direction down to a plate of a spring.
  • The fastening opening below on the shock-absorber shows perpendicularly to the direction of the movement.
  1. Assembly of elements has to be made in the order specified in drawing below.
  2. Installation of a depreciation rack is described in the previous section.

Removal of the back shock-absorber

All-wheel drive models

At all-wheel drive cars (Audi 80 quattro) the shock-absorber separates from the removed depreciation rack by means of a natyazhitel of springs. It is easy to execute it.

It becomes heavier at installation: the corner of the lower fastening of the shock-absorber to the top fastening of the shock-absorber has to make in the established state precisely 21 ± 2 °. Without adjusting template V. A. G. 1752 which Audi workshop uses, it is so precisely almost impossible to establish. Our council that who does not want to transfer all work to a workshop: it is possible to remove simply a depreciation rack, to ask a workshop to install precisely the shock-absorber, and then again to establish houses a depreciation rack.

Regulation of bearings of naves of back wheels

Front-wheel models

  1. To raise back part of the car and to fix it.
  2. To take off a wheel cap, the forelock and a koronchaty cap on the way described in the head Brake system.
  3. Models with back drum brake mechanisms: to wring out up an adjusting wedge in the way, described in the above section. Then the brake drum will be rotated absolutely freely.
  4. Without excessive efforts to tighten a six-sided nut, rotating thus a wheel in order that did not clamp bearings.
  5. Again slightly to weaken a nut.
  6. The side play is established correctly if easy pressing of a screw-driver it is possible to shift slightly a persistent washer behind a nut. The screw-driver edge thus cannot be opirat about edge of a nave of a wheel.

Bearings of a nave of a wheel of all-wheel drive models

At correctly established nave bearing side play easy pressing of a screw-driver it is possible to shift slightly a persistent washer (1) under an adjusting nut (2). Thus the edge of a screw-driver should not lean on the brake drum or a brake disk.

  • If now still it is impossible to insert the lock forelock into a lock clamp, so the nut needs to be turned a little in the close direction.
  • To put on a wheel cap, podstukivy a rubber hammer, if necessary to enclose a hard parcel of rags.

All-wheel drive models and on a back axis have pressed double ball-bearings. Though they also do not need to be regulated, but due to the lack of compression molds they cannot be changed independently.
