Removal and installation of the engine

The description of removal of the engine for all types of engines would be beyond far this management. Here only some essential points concerning this subject are provided.

The engine is taken out without transmission up. For this purpose you will need a polyspast (tal) which you can strongly suspend at sufficient height. It is even better if you have an assistant who already have experience.
Before actually work on removal of the engine it is necessary to remove all disturbing parts of the car: cowl, lower protection of the engine, case of the air filter, battery and if necessary radiator.
As the huge number of electric wires and vacuum pipelines is installed in the Audi 80 car, you have to mark out first of all them everything in summary to establish them everything on the right place.
Before shutdown of the battery you have to be convinced available at you a number protective code of the anticreeping coding of the autoradio tape recorder.
The battery should be disconnected only at the switched-off ignition, differently it is possible to damage control units.
Before finally otflantsovyvat the engine, it is necessary to bring under a transmission a support from below or slightly to raise it together with even built-in engine. In a workshop for this purpose use the special tool which rests against the region of fastening of a wing of the car.
The engine is supplied with suspended eyes into which it is possible to insert the tool for rise. Watch careful fixing of a cable.

Illustrations show two important steps at removal of the engine (the 6-cylinder engine is represented): in a workshop the engine is removed by means of such adaptation for raising of the engine. Only for this purpose the engine has fixing eyes into which, of course, it is possible to insert also chains or ropes. The image shows on the right the so-called basic device (1) which is integrated with the holder of a transmission (2) here. Sense in giving a support to a transmission which otherwise at the removed engine would settle down. The same effect can achieve if to bring under a transmission a support from below.
