The important size of a wheel is depth of a press fitting of "d". This size designates distance between the middle of a wheel and surfaces of a prileganiye of a rim to a wheel nave.

At the left: suitable wheel bolts for steel and light-alloy wheels from Audi can be distinguished on deepenings on a bolt head.

On the right: so the steel wheel for Audi 80 looks. In metal the following designations are beaten out:

1 – designation of a wheel;
2 – press fitting depth;
3 – number of a detail.

On Audi 80 cars wheels with the following designations can be established: 6 J x 15 ET 37 or 7 J x 15 ET 37. Sometimes it is possible to meet on a rim additional designation "in N 2". Figures and letters designate the following:

6 or 7: rim width in inches, is measured between rim zakraina boards cross to the direction of rotation of a wheel.
J: designation of height of a board.
х: designation of a deep rim.
15: diameter of a rim in inches, is measured from a board to a board (landing diameter of the tire).
ET 37: depth of a press fitting of a wheel of 37 mm.
H2: designation of a deep wheel with ring corbels on landing shelves. Two ledges inside in the rim basis at lateral loading (sharp passing of turn with a low pressure of air in tires) do not allow boards of the tire to come off a zakraina.

These standard designations specify only the main sizes of the tire, but data, not specific to each car, as, for example, number of openings for fastening of a wheel or diameter of these openings.

Wheel bolts and wheels – the uniform block

In the constructive relation wheel bolts and wheels represent the uniform block and therefore they cannot be applied separately. Conic landing on fixing openings of a wheel is precisely coordinated with cones of wheel bolts. Other forms of a cone cannot guarantee reliable fastening of a bolt and by that wheels.

For the wheels established and allowed to application at Audi plants (steel and light-alloy) it is possible to use only this way the called bolt with a koronchaty head (number of a detail 431 601 139 And). It can be distinguished on special deepenings above on a bolt head. For the rims bought in shop of spare parts other rules are applicable. Perhaps, it is necessary to buy wheel bolts of the corresponding producer!

Wheels for winter tires

Winter tires should be bought at once with suitable steel rims. It though is more expensive at the first moment, but will save means at a perebortirovka. In the shops trading in tires it is quite often possible to get complete sets at the favorable price. Standard wheels 6 J x 15 will be suitable for winter tires. It is also possible to get second-hand wheels.

Light-alloy wheels under the influence of salt for a posypaniye of roads can korrodirovat up to full unfitness. Therefore it is necessary to eliminate as soon as possible damages of the protective varnish covering them. The one who uses in the winter light-alloy wheels, has to control their state at each wash of the car.
