Radiator

The radiator is supplied with so-called tanks from plastic. They are located at models with 4-and the 6-cylinder engine on the right and at the left on a radiator, at 5-cylinder below and above. From these tanks cooling liquid directs through aluminum tubes of a radiator which for increase in their surface (and by that the areas of cooling) are supplied with cooling edges. Through cooling edges cooling liquid gives heat to the atmosphere.

At suspicion on not tight radiator you should carry out in a workshop the described inspection pressure. If defect is obvious, you can remove at once a radiator and bring it to repair.

Removal of a radiator

For removal of a radiator of the 4-cylinder engine turn off a 6-faced bolt (2) and disconnect fastening (1) radiator. The radiator of the 6-cylinder engine is established in the same way.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To remove the lower protection of a motor compartment (the head Elementy of a body).
  2. To merge cooling liquid.
  3. To remove all hoses from a radiator.
  4. To disconnect tips of wires on a cooling system fan thermoswitch.
  5. To remove cooling system fan plugs.
  6. Models with 4-and 6-cylinder engines: to turn out fixing bolts / nuts above and below on both parties of a radiator.
  7. To press a radiator it is a little back and to take out together with the fan.
  8. Models with 5-cylinder engines: to remove the top protection of a radiator. For this purpose to turn off nuts/bolts and to extend protection from forward fastenings.
  9. To remove cooling system tubes above and below on a radiator and also the small tube going to a broad tank on a radiator.
  10. Completely to unscrew a fixing partition on the right side of a radiator.
  11. To unscrew the lower fastening of a radiator.
  12. To take out a radiator up.

The bolts and nuts specified here by shooters need to be turned off in order that it was possible to remove the protection cover of a radiator. Ahead the casing is in addition inserted into clips (arrows in the middle).

The arrow indicates a carving stopper of an air vent in a branch pipe of the cooling system of the 5-cylinder engine. the 6-cylinder engine is also supplied with this stopper.

At the left: for plum of cooling liquid at model with the 4-cylinder engine tubes (1) and (2) on the thermostat case have to be removed. In addition to open a carving stopper of a drain opening on a radiator.

On the right: the 6-cylinder engine is supplied with an additional carving stopper plum (arrow) which is below on the engine near a transmission case socket place.

Additional radiator

In certain options of equipment – for example, the conditioner, the traction coupling device, the strengthened cooling – the 5-cylinder engine is equipped with the additional water radiator standing just before the engine. This additional radiator is connected in parallel with the main radiator and increases thereby an active surface of cooling. Dismantle:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To remove the lower protection of a motor compartment (the head Elementy of a body).
  2. To merge the cooling means.
  3. To disconnect cooling system hoses from a radiator.
  4. To turn out on an additional radiator fixing bolts / nuts above (one) and below (two).

Cleaning of a radiator

Before a warm season and after it the surface of a radiator has to be cleared of the remains of insects which pressed there, otherwise the cooling action worsens.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To open a cowl, at the 5-cylinder engine in addition to remove the protection cover of a radiator from above.
  2. To sprinkle the dried-up remains of insects the means dissolving protein (for example "Summer Screen" of Holts firm).
  3. Through certain time of action to sprinkle the same means a reverse side of a radiator. To wash out a radiator a weak stream of water. The rigid brush or the sharp tool can damage a radiator surface.
  4. To send a hose with water to openings round the cooling system fan. To raise rubber protective caps where are established, and to send a water stream to the openings located behind them.

Removal of hoses of the cooling system

As spare parts find original hoses of the necessary curved form and surely new collars.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To merge the cooling means.
  2. To weaken the turning-off collars by means of a screw-driver.
  3. To squeeze spring collars on both "ears" by means of nippers against the stop.
  4. To remove hoses.
  5. To weaken densely sitting ends of hoses by means of a screw-driver which needs to be pushed between a hose and a branch pipe and carefully to work with it as the lever.
  6. To put on new hoses branch pipes dostochno it is deep that they could not slide off.
  7. To tighten the twisting collars, without applying special efforts, differently it is possible to strip a thread.

Help: the torn or bitten through hose can seldom be replaced at once. For example, often happens so that the necessary hose is not present in a warehouse. It is temporarily possible to help trouble, applying "Pannenband" of Weyer or "Hoseweld Bandage" firm of Holts firm. Both tapes are well pasted to the cleared and dry rubber hoses. At big leak sometimes happens it is useful to open a cover of a broad tank on one turn that in the cooling system pressure to which the bandage will not be able to resist could not be formed. Now it is possible to go very carefully to a workshop, constantly watching indications of sensors of temperature and level of cooling liquid.

Plums of cooling liquid

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To allow the engine to cool down, otherwise danger of an ozheg is great!
  2. To open a carving cover of a broad tank.
  3. To remove the lower protection of a motor compartment (the head Elementy of a body).
  4. To substitute under the engine wide capacity for plum of cooling liquid.
  5. To open a stopper of a drain opening below on a radiator or to remove the lower hose of a radiator.
    In addition:
  6. Models with the 4-cylinder engine: in the direction of the movement at the left at the engine to remove and let out all liquid from a thick hose to a radiator and thinner to the heat exchanger of system of heating respectively on the thermostat case.
  7. Models with the 5-cylinder engine: behind on the block of cylinders to remove the hose with cooling liquid conducting to a heater.
  8. Further to remove a hose at the lower pipeline with the cooling means.
  9. Models with the 6-cylinder engine: to let out cooling liquid through a drain opening below on the block of cylinders.

Help: antifreeze is poisonous therefore it cannot be lowered simply in the sewerage. Instead it is necessary to bring together him in special capacity and to hand over as special garbage.

Gas station of the cooling system

As in the engine always there is a quantity of cooling liquid, perhaps, it will not be possible to fill in all amount of liquid called in the table at the beginning of the head.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before filling to open a carving stopper of an air vent in a heater hose.
  2. Only the 6-cylinder engine: to turn out ahead at the engine a carving stopper on the pipeline with cooling liquid.
  3. At first to fill in antifreeze, then whenever possible distilled water until level rises to the upper edge of a broad tank.
  4. To pour liquid until it does not act from a stopper. Then to add completely.
  5. Only the 4-cylinder engine: slightly to raise the top water hose to a radiator until cooling liquid is filled in.
  6. To wrap a carving cover of a broad tank.
  7. To start the engine and to leave it to work until the electric fan of the cooling system turns on.
  8. To switch off the engine and to add cooling liquid. Level of liquid has to be between marks of "min" and "max" of a broad tank; at the engine warmed up to the working temperature is a little higher than the maximum mark.
