Security measures during the work with system of ignition

In a motor compartment of the Audi 80 car the special plate warns about a high voltage in system of ignition, and it is not causeless at all: in a thin wire of a chain of management there can already be tension to 100 V with a big current, not to mention the dangerous high-voltage tension of ignition making over 30 000 V (but with a small current). Though, fortunately, it is not known of the car owners killed with system of ignition, but nevertheless the touch to uninsulated wires in adverse conditions can become very dangerous, especially for the people having cardiac diseases. Therefore:

  • To touch all electric cables – and to connections of control devices, – and also it is necessary to disconnect or connect them only at the switched-off ignition.
  • It is necessary to disconnect the battery only at the switched-off ignition.
  • If the engine needs to be turned simply a starter, without starting, it is necessary to disconnect system of ignition (see the following section).

  • Before washing the engine, it is necessary to disconnect system of ignition.
  • For start of the engine at the discharged battery by means of the device for the accelerated charge it can be connected not more long than for one minute, and tension should not exceed 16,5 Century.
  • At obvious or estimated defect of system of ignition it is necessary to disconnect system of ignition at towage of the car (see the following section).
  • It is impossible to connect the condenser to the plug 1/of the coil of ignition.
  • The runner of the distributor of ignition is impossible zament for the first comers, his resistance makes 1 kOhm and designation of "R1" (model with 4-and 5-cylinder engines).
  • To apply with high-voltage thick wires of system of ignition only resistance of 1 kOhm.
  • To apply only such contact tips of a spark plug which resistance makes 5 kOhm.
  • When carrying out electrowelding works in the car cables of the battery have to be disconnected.
