Measurement of brake shoes of the drum mechanism

The viewing opening for control of thickness of overlays of the back drum brake mechanism is located in a guard of the drum brake mechanism in front in the direction of the movement. At uncovered are visible a brake shoe (1) with the frictional brake slip pasted on it (2). The brake drum (3) is also visible. |
As the active block wears out quicker back passive, thickness should be measured on a forward block.

- To lift the car behind.
- To remove a plastic cap on inside of the corresponding wheel in front on a guard of the drum brake mechanism.
- To light a pocket small lamp in a viewing opening, to establish block thickness.
- Wear of blocks is admissible to 2,5 mm of residual thickness – without carrier thickness. Otherwise they need to be changed.
