System of injection of KE-III-Jetronic

Multipoint injection

The engines equipped with system of injection of gasoline pull together clean air. In addition to it the system of injection doses fuel for each cylinder. At models it happens to the 5-cylinder engine constantly (kontinuierlich) and control of this process is exercised electronically (elektronisch) therefore our system of injection received the name KE-III-Jetronic.

Principle of action

The initial form of this system of injection, K-Jetronic, worked hard purely mechanically by the principle "inlet air – a lot of fuel". And such simple devices as the regulator of enrichment of gas mixture at warming up of the engine and the starting valve, in addition provided a prisposablivayemost to difficult service conditions. It was impossible to combine a lambda regulation (with adjustable catalytic converter) with classical K-Jetronic system without additional devices.

This circumstance served as the main reason for further development of KE-Jetronic. Basic elements of former system remained and were added with the electronic control unit and the so-called regulator of pressure – the regulator which is in addition influencing fuel dispensing with the electromagnetic drive. The regulator of pressure is active mainly during warming up of the engine, however it also carries out the central function at regulation of composition of gas mixture through a lambda regulation (adjustable catalytic converter).

Together with completely electronic system of ignition of "VEZ" (the System of ignition is considered in the head) this system of injection represents a full control system of the engine. Though each system is supplied with own control unit, between them there is a data exchange. Besides, as information sources for systems of ignition and injection the same sensors often serve.

The store of malfunctions which is writing down malfunctions during the movement finishes possibilities of electronics. Memory of the store of malfunctions can be interrogated for establishment of the reason of malfunctions.
