Check of a free wheeling of the lever of the parking brake

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Operation of the parking brake has to begin with the third lock groove of the lever.
  2. At the recorded fourth tooth back wheels have to be blocked.
  3. On models with disk brake mechanisms on back wheels the free wheeling directly depends on functioning of the automatic adjusting device.
  4. In general: if the course of the lever is longer usual, it indicates worn-out brake shoes on back wheels or the extended cables of the brake drive. This certificate of that the parking brake was strongly tightened at each parking.
  5. Adjustment of the parking brake is usually necessary only after replacement of a cable of the brake drive or blocks of disk brake mechanisms of back wheels.

Replacement of a cable of the brake drive

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To raise the car behind and to record.
  2. To remove the car from the parking brake.
  3. To weaken an adjusting nut on a yoke until a cable it does not become noticeable sagged.
  4. To remove the brake drum, to remove brake shoes and to take out the back end of a cable from the lever of inclusion of system of the parking drive.
  5. If on your car on back wheels there are disk brake mechanisms, it is necessary to hook a spring bracket on the end of a cover of a cable and to take out a tip of a cable of the brake drive from the drive lever.
  6. To hang out and remove a drive cable from various krepezhy on a back axis and on the car bottom.
  7. At assembly to establish a clamp on the forward end of a cover of the hummock drive.
  8. Naveshivaniye of a cable of the parking brake on the driving lever of the drum brake mechanism can be connected with problems. Therefore it is necessary to remove a spiral spring on a cable nippers-bokorezami and to prevent its slipping, having softly clamped bokoreza on a cable. Now to hang a cable in the lever.
  9. At models with disk brake mechanisms on back wheels it is necessary to carry out adjustment!
  10. At all cars it is necessary to adjust system of the parking brake.

Regulation of system of the parking brake

At the left: regulation of the parking brake. By rotation of an adjusting nut (1) on a carving site (2) cables of the brake drive are made a tension of cables of the brake drive to wheels. The illustration shows approximately the middle of the bottom of the car.

On the right: the parking brake is adjusted correctly if the driving lever of a brake (2) slightly rises from an emphasis (1).

Thanks to the automatic adjusting devices which are available for models both with drum and with disk brake mechanisms on back wheels, the system of the parking brake needs to be regulated only after works on mechanics of system of the parking brake or after replacement of brake shoes.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To raise the car behind from both parties and to record.
  2. Models with back drum brake mechanisms: to remove the car from the parking brake.
  3. To turn out an adjusting nut until the end of a carving bar.
  4. Once strongly to press a brake pedal.
  5. To lift the lever of the parking brake on two lock grooves (two clicks).
  6. To tighten an adjusting nut so strongly that both wheels could be turned a hand with great difficulty.
  7. To remove the car from the parking brake and to check a free wheeling of wheels.
  8. Models with back disk brake mechanisms: to carry out adjustment.
  9. To tighten an adjusting nut so strongly that both driving levers of the parking brake at supports of brake mechanisms on the right and at the left slightly rose from an emphasis. The assistant has to check it.
  10. Now to weaken an adjusting nut on two turns.
  11. For control to press the lever of inclusion of system of the parking brake to supports of brake mechanisms on the right and at the left in turn to the corresponding emphasis. If the lever of a support of other wheel also moves, so cables of the brake drive are tense too strongly.
  12. In this case to weaken an adjusting nut of cables of the brake drive so that both levers were near an emphasis.
  13. To tighten and again to weaken the parking brake; to check a free wheeling of back wheels.
