Review of cars of Audi 80
The third generation of Audi 80 (a series of a body 89) a class D for the rounded design and a "plump" form of sidewalls of a body at us in the country nicknamed "barrel". Configuration with a longitudinal arrangement of the engine was very convenient for Quattro (89Q) versions with the constant full (integrated) drive serving for improvement only of road performance, but not for passability increase (clearance, as at front-wheel drive vehicles). On "eight-ten" an early series installed the most various petrol engines: carburetor (on the early version), with the central and distributed injection, with a turbo-supercharging with a working volume from 1,6 to 2,3 l ("turbopyaterka"), and also economic 1,6-1,9-liter diesels and turbodiesels. The Audi 90 model with other bumpers equipped with mainly line "five" only not much more surpassed "eight-ten" in equipment level. The three-door hatchback of sports type with the truncated wheel base was called Coupe. It differed in the closest back part of salon with very small (295-930 l) a luggage carrier. Also its all-wheel drive Coupe Quattro version (series 89Q) was issued. As a result of restyling of 1991 (B4 body series) of Audi 80 received other registration of forward and back parts of a body. The extended cowl was combined with the chromeplated front grille, bumpers of other form began to paint in color of a body. 15-inch wheels became standard. Access to a luggage carrier was facilitated, and its capacity became possible to increase at the expense of the thrown-back back of a back seat. There was a safety cushion. The Audi 90 model was laid off. The scale of engines was expanded - from especially economic 1,9-liter turbodiesel with direct injection of fuel to 2,8-liter petrol V6. Issued also the "loaded" versions of a sedan of S2 (89-type); S2, S2 Avant and RS2 Avant (B4-type) with the forced line "turbopyaterka" and a suspension bracket of the increased rigidity. They were equipped with bumpers with the increased openings of air inlets, brakes like Porsche (with bright red supports) and low-profile wheels. In the summer of 1991 there was successful four-seater Cabrio which production proceeded very long. This model of one of the first in a class cabriolets (in June, 1995) received a turbodiesel. For winter operation since 1996 began to offer an easily removable aluminum roof with heating of back glass. The Audi 80 Avant station wagons appeared only in June, 1992. Despite not really capacious body, they were popular in a segment of versatile persons for the families which are fond of sport that was promoted in no small measure by all-wheel drive Quattro versions. Functionality of Avant was improved by the back seat put in parts. The solid age (even the "freshest" models already entered age notorious "semiletok") does not prevent "barrel" to remain one of popular models in the domestic secondary market (at least, in the European territory). Its body thanks to galvanization differs in permanent anticorrosive protection, but on beaten copies there can be disguised corrosion centers from inept repair. At excellent ergonomics of forward part of salon (unless there is no ceiling lighting) on a back seat of all modifications of family to passengers of high growth there is closely, as in domestic "Samarakh". Visibility and road performance of "barrel" quite conform to world requirements, but the power steering is not on all modifications and luggage carrier volume is a little small. The resource of engines is great (happens much more 300 thousand. the km), but directly depends on timeliness of carrying out servicing and quality of the applied materials (oils, filters and so forth). At many engines big (for the unknown reasons) an oil consumption. All-wheel drive Quattro versions it is more difficult in service and repair, but at the expense of it and are not more expensive than usual front-wheel versions. The simplest and reliable are moderately equipped versions with petrol "fours" with monoinjection.
Chronology of production
* BV - petrol, injection; BVT - petrol, injection, a turbo-supercharging; BV2T - petrol, injection, two turbochargers of BQ - petrol, the carburetor; Д - diesel; DNV - the diesel with direct injection; DT - the diesel, a turbo-supercharging; DNVT - the diesel with direct injection, a turbo-supercharging
Leakage of tubes of the cooling system.
Defect of needles of the carburetor. A big expense the oil engine (100-200 g / 1000 km are considered normal).
